Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, met the Leaders and the Members of the Bundestag Committee on Foreign Affairs, in the Framework of the Official Visit to Germany
The Parties discussed a wide range of issues concerning internal situation and foreign policy of Ukraine.
German parliament members were interested in the development of cooperation in the "President-Parliament-Government" form, fighting corruption, democracy of the country, freedom of speech in Ukraine.
Asked about the current cooperation between the branches of authority, Mr Lytvyn appreciated understanding between the Head of State, the Cabinet of Ministers and The Verkhovna Rada. He stated: "The Verkhovna Rada should not be in subordination, but demonstrate certain opposition to the executive authorities, encouraging the Government for improvement."
Dwelling upon the implementation of the economic reforms in Ukraine, Mr Lytvyn stressed that it is important to develop an action plan "to encourage public initiative and create favourable investment climate." "We understand that no calls will be effective, unless the potential investors trust us", the Head of the Parliament stated. Mr Lytvyn stated that the national legislation on economic activity would be substantially enhanced shortly, "being sustainable and meeting European standards."
Mr Lytvyn stated that the recent months had been rich not only in legislative resolutions, but also in their implementation, implying the preparation for EURO 2012.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine deems necessary to impose a moratorium on populist resolutions, implementing the social initiatives adopted.
Asked about the activity of political parties in Ukraine, Mr Lytvyn stated that the effective electoral system "distorted the situation, valuing the parties above the county itself." Moreover, defective electoral legislation of Ukraine impedes political structuring of the society.
As it was reported, on 16-17 June, Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, pays an official visit to the Federal Republic of Germany.
